DEAR CONSTITUENTS,
Wishing you all a happy Independence Day.
We have a lot to be thankful for especially God’s special gift of life.
As a community, we have fostered in tackling the rigorous daily challenges that we have faced, which includes but not limited to insecurity, flood, inadequate electricity supply and the general gap in our public infrastructure.
In the quest to reduce the general hardship faced by our constituents, I have been able to facilitate some infrastructural developments within the constituency, some already In existence while some will be delivered in the nearest future.
COMPLETE INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS
The following infrastructure has been put in place within the short period I have been in your service:
1- Shola Omole road with solar street lights in Ado area.
2- A fully equipped standard health care centre located in the Lafiaji area of Eti Osa.
3- A 3 classroom building in the Okun Ajah area.
4- Provision of tables and chairs for both teachers and students in 13 primary and secondary schools across Eti Osa.
5- A free school bus ride for students within Eti Osa
6- Solar street lights on Anofi Elegushi street in Ilasan
7- A second health centre in the Lafiaji area of Eti Osa (Yet to be completed)
8- Donation of 5 Motor Bikes for security patrol to different estates including the Police Area Command.
UPCOMING INFRASTRUCTURES:(TO COMMENCE THIS MONTH)
1- Rehabilitation of Odo street in Obalende
2- Rehabilitation of Ademola street in Ikoyi
3- Rehabilitation of the main road in 1004 estate, Victoria Island
4- Rehabilitation of the Olufemi Olatunji by Ajiran road junction
5 – Rehabilitation of 2 roads in Osapa London
6- Rehabilitation and drainage construction on Omoba Murphy Adetoro street in Ajah
7- A 3 classroom building for a secondary school Ajiran.
ON HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT:
1- Empowered 20 petty traders with cash to enhance their businesses
2- Trained and empowered over 70 constituents in various artistry profession
3- Trained and empowered over 60 constituents for Agro Mechanization Training.
4- Secured employment for a constituent in the University of Calabar.
5- Facilitated the recruitment of a constituent into the Department of State services Agency.
6- Followed up and ensured prompt payment of pension death benefits for some NOK constituents.
7- Facilitated the redeployment of NYSC corps members (constituents) from high volatile States.
ON EDUCATION:
1- Facilitated admission for over 10 students into various secondary schools
2- Secured admission for constituents into various Universities and Polytechnics.
3- Provided a free school bus that shuttles within the constituency.
COVID-19 EFFORTS:
During the peak of the pandemic, we successfully contributed relief materials such as food items, face masks, hand sanitisers etc across the Constituency.
Pre-Covid, we attended monthly RA meetings but the COVID 19 disrupted that exercise. We are gearing up to resume attending RA meetings to continue the usual engagements with our Constituents.
ON LEGISLATION:
Upon resumption in 2019 during the budget Defence, my first contribution in the house was to debate the need for the increase in the amount allocated to the health sector in Nigeria.
Other activities on the floor include:
1- A motion on the need to urgently address the deplorable state of the military and paramilitary barracks within the Constituency.
2- Co-sponsored a motion on the need to immortalize Dr. Stella Adadevoh for the role she played during the Ebola crisis in Obalande which is within our Constituency.
3- I called for the capturing of Nigerians in Diaspora in the electoral reform amendment bill.
We also have 3 bills pending in the House.
1- A bill for an Act to alter the provision of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to make economic and social rights in Chapter 2 justifiable under the Constitution and Related Matters.
2- A Bill for an Act to amend the administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 and for other related matter to prohibit public parade of suspects before and after arraignment.
3: A Bill for an act to amend the National Commission for Rehabilitation Act, CAP N22 LFN 2004 and related matter to increase fines provided for by the ACT and other related matters.
It is my belief that these motions and bills as part of our legislative agenda will bring some dividends of Democracy to our Constituents.
